I wear plus size clothes and I am introverted by nature, even when I was skinny. I prefer dark clothes, it’s what I feel comfortable in, besides summertime is a drag for me since I sweat alot even when I was skinny. I was told by a colleague that I wear too much black. She said it must be boring to always wear black.
Listen, I like black, I feel sophisticated, slimmer, and comfrotable wearing black, I know wearing colors would show all the sweat marks and I tried on some white and blue tops today at plus size store and its horrendous, my shoulders look 5 times the size.
Is it ok to wear black alot at work? I sometimes mix a little color.

many people get into this rut of thinking they look slimmer in black when it’s not true. In fact, i’ve seen so many looking heavier than they are in black it’s not funny. I think they were trying to tell you it wasn’t working for you, but in the nicest way possible.
It isn’t sophisticated either, another outdated and thrown out idea that never truly worked to begin with. Black does not hide sweat stains anymore than colors, you just blind yourself to that truth.
You are far from alone. Many people want to believe these things to hide behind. Unfortuanately, it’s something that normally brings people to the forefront instead of in the back where they’d like to be.
Hiding weight issues isn’t easy to do with any color. No one is going to look thinner than they are with any color, period. Anyone who thinks so is not looking at themselves in full length mirrors and hiding with face mirror attitude. It’s the cut of clothing that can show off your body in a better light and not color. If your hips are wider and you are trying to hide it with a loose top, the only thing accomplished is making it look wider. Also gives you that nice big fat blob look that no one wants!
Those plus store clerks are there to try to help you find cuts for your shape to empasize what you want and to minimize waht you don’t like.
Your body issues start from within. You need to work on accepting yourself for who you are. You say your shoulders look bigger in color, it’s probably that you blind yourself to their size by telling yourself htey aren’t visible in black, when i can tell you for certain, they are just as visible. Once again, maybe more so with the only color being black.
Someoen wanted to help you out by trying to tell you that your choices aren’t putting out the image you want to send. She can tell you want to send a sophisticated look but she’s trying to say it isn’t working.. on any level. She’s trying to do it in a manner to not offend you or turn you into an enemy. She probably has seen people wear color that hides far more than black ever will.
As for color, no color will suit you if you hate yourself enough to try to hide behind black. But the truth is, many colors will make you look far better and give you all the things you want… while helping you blend in better with your surroundings.
If you were in a room with nothing but black, you could blend in. But if you are in a sea of color, don’t you think black would stick out even more? Plus, many cannot pull off the color like they think they can. It washes so many out that it makes them look sick or unhealthy. Not every color is for every person. White can look just as horrible on a person and wash them out badly too. You might need help by asking someone to pick the right colors for your skin tone to help you with what you are looking for. Also, that person needs to understand the cut and the body shape you have.
Look around and find others who wear all black, so how they look and if you think it’s hiding anything? If so, you probably won’t change no matter what. In the end, it’s all your own choice. I’m a bit heavy myself and i know i often get told i look like i lost some weight whenever i wear the right colors for my skin and with the right cut of my clothing. When i wear black, i have heard i look like a blob and when i got honest with myself and looked full length mirrors… it was true.
I’m trying to find swimsuits where the tops run larger. When you look for plus size you always get plus size everywhere else not in the top.
I’m about a 48DDD. I think a tankini would work best.
I tried Venus, but they only talk about it in small, medium, and large – doesn’t do me any good. I did like that their "tankinis" have underwires [I hate underwires, but I need all of the support I can get].
Lane Bryant doesn’t run big enough, and our local store doesn’t sell swim wear. Aerin Rose doesn’t go big enough.

I would suggest Lands End for the largest and most varied selection of swimwear in all sizes, and lots of mix and match tankini styles.
Also, you might want to keep an eye out for swimsuits cut specifically for DD and large breasted women. I’ve seen them in the past at some of the department stores and places like Eddie Bauer.
