I have four bridesmaids : 1 is very short and chunky, 2 are tall and skinny, and the 4th is plus sized (size 24). What dress style would complement these different body shapes? I am particularly having trouble with finding a nice plus size dress. Help please?!?

Well, you could have all of your girls wear different dresses. You could tell them the color/designer that you want the dresses to be and then have them pick which dress they think would best compliment their bodies.
If you want them all to wear the same thing then I think that a nice a-line or an empire waist would look good. I would say to get them something other than strampless – especially if they are heavier on the top.
You could try going with Mori Lee. When I went to look at dresses they told me the nice thing about Mori Lee was that they don’t charge extra for the plus sizes (usually it’s much more expensive). The only reason we didn’t go with Mori Lee is because they only went up to a size 28 – my MOH was bigger than that.

I’ll be wearing an evening gown at a formal wedding. Any recommendations I can get from plus sized women who have actually worn a body shaper would be great.

Nancy Gantz makes great ones. I’ve found them at Sears stores. You can also visit www.curvychick.com for advice about other body shapers – I haven’t tried any others, but other women at that site have tried them and can give you great advice.

There is an actress named Tamika Katon-Donegal who made her acting debut in TLC’s music video for Unpretty. She played the plus-size girl who turned to bulimia to cope with her weight. In the end she finds confidence to wear a swimsuit and feel proud of her body. She was the hostess on Teen Talk, a syndicated talk show on teen issues and there also she told viewers that she thought of herself positively and on par with smaller-sized individuals.
I thought when I first saw her that she was beautiful almost perfect (I do have a preference for larger women). But recently, I have seen her in an informercial for Barry’s Boot Camp weight loss program where she says she’s proud she can’t wear the shorts she wore in the Unpretty music video anymore.

I feel heartbroken because she was so gorgeous to me. How can someone, like me a fat admirer, respond to that? How would you feel when someone does that?

Unfortunately a lot of celebrities come under pressure to lose weight, and do so, regardless of what they said about it.

However in some cases, depending on how plus size they are, they may be comfortable with their body but still need to lose weight for health reasons.

In order of preference (mine):

1. Torrid (They go up to an equivalent of a 26-28)
2. Fashion Bug (They go up to a 30-32)
3. Hot Topic (XXXL and size 20 I think is max)
4. Dots (XL-XXXL)
5. WalMart – Target (Walmart – 30-32, Target 26-28)
6. Old Navy (Up to 24)

I’m short, and I despise Lane Bryant and Catherine’s…their clothes are broad shouldered, and for normal to tall people only. Pants legs are wayyyy to long, sleeves are wayyyy to long.

I’ve heard that Cato is along the lines of Fashion Bug, but I’ve never been there.
